forms & shapes: collected works by peter skwiot smith 2007-2009 | september 19th, 2009

he show's title forms & shapes, borrowed from a sascha funke song, is exactly what this show is about: our mind's idea of music, the pictures we create behind closed eyelids when our heads nod to a new or favorite song.

peter skwiot smith, creator of 5/9 magazine and other materpieces such as and i still miss you, has captured his own imaginings of music over the past three years. peter's layering of polaroids and medium format film (scanned in at massive sizes) reveals a picture of audible and invisible sound that may or may not exist in another human's mind...

the influences that are synthesized in these flashes are random and endless. this brilliant show promises to reveal a few.
